Got TRICARE Dental Program Coverage Questions? Here’s a Brochure for You

By TRICARE Communications

Are you looking for dental coverage for you and your family? If so, the TRICARE Dental Program (TDP) may be able to help. The TDP is a voluntary dental plan for active duty family members, as well as National Guard and Reserve members and their family members. It offers comprehensive dental benefits and it’s available worldwide. Ready to learn more about it? You can start by reading the TRICARE Dental Program Benefit Brochure.

“The TDP brochure is a resource to help you quickly become familiar with TDP benefits, who’s eligible for them, and how they work once you’re enrolled,” said Robert Agnello, deputy chief of Digital Communications, TRICARE Web and Publications, at the Defense Health Agency. “The TRICARE Dental Program helps you get the care you need and maintain good oral health.”

Here’s a look at three things the TDP brochure can help you learn about.

1. How to find a dentist
Did you know you can see any licensed and authorized dentist with the TDP no matter where you live? Whether you’re looking for a general dentist or an orthodontist for braces, finding a dentist near you is quick and easy. Just use the Find a Dentist Tool on the TDP website. Remember, some dentists are TDP network dentists and others are non-network dentists. You can learn about the differences between them—and why it matters—by checking out the “Easy Access to Dentists” section of the TDP brochure.

2. Your coverage and costs at a glance
As stated in the TDP brochure, “The type of dental service you get and the sponsor’s pay grade affect your cost-share, which is the amount you pay for dental services.” The brochure uses a table that breaks down the different kinds of TDP covered services. And it lets you know what you’ll pay and what the TDP will pay before you see your dentist. The brochure also touches on maximums, premiums, and other costs associated with your TDP coverage.

3. How to enroll in TDP
Enrolling in the TDP is easy. You can enroll in a single plan for yourself or a family plan at any time as long as your sponsor has at least 12 months of service left. The brochure outlines who’s eligible for the TDP and the different ways you can sign up. See the “Three Ways to Enroll” section of the brochure when you’re ready to get started.

The TRICARE Dental Program Benefit Brochure is a quick and convenient guide to help you and your family take command of their dental health. Check it out, and don’t forget to take the Publications Feedback Survey to share your thoughts about it.
