The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Five Reasons to Switch to TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery

By TRICARE Communications

Want your prescriptions delivered to your front door? TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery through Express Scripts can help. Take a minute to see how getting your prescription drugs delivered may be right for you.

“TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery is a convenient option for medications you take on a regular basis,” said Lt. Col. Melissa Yates, a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Operations Division at the Defense Health Agency. “You can still use retail network pharmacies for your short-term medications. But for multiple refills, home delivery is the best option for many TRICARE beneficiaries.”

What makes home delivery such a good option? Below are five reasons why you should consider home delivery:

1. Stress-free ordering
The TRICARE pharmacy contractor, Express Scripts, provides easy ways to order your prescription drugs. Just remember to keep a 30-day supply of medication on hand before you set up your first home delivery order. There are many ways to sign up. Some of your options include:
2. Copayment savings for up to a 90-day supply
Home delivery may offer the cheapest pharmacy option after military pharmacies. As noted in the TRICARE Pharmacy Program Handbook, there’s no cost for active duty service members. For all others, home delivery offers up to a 90-day supply for one single copayment. At retail network pharmacies, you’ll have to pay three copayments to get a 90-day supply. With home delivery, standard shipping is free.

3. Secure and reliable
Your medications will stay safe until they arrive at your home. Your prescription will arrive to you in a plain, weather-resistant packaging. Express Scripts ships millions of prescriptions each year with greater than 99.99% accuracy.

Military families move around more often than most. But home delivery will move with you. Express Scripts will ship to any address in the U.S. or U.S. territories. This includes APO/FPO addresses. You can use home delivery if you live outside the U.S. or U.S. territories and have an APO or FPO address. You can also use it if you work at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Home delivery isn’t an option in Germany. You must use a military pharmacy or host nation (overseas) pharmacy to fill your prescriptions if you live in Germany.

4. 24/7 pharmacist support
Have questions about your prescriptions? With home delivery, you have access to pharmacists 24/7 from the privacy of your home. This is helpful if you have questions about your medication outside of business hours, when local pharmacies are closed. You can access this 24/7 service through your online account or the Express Scripts mobile app. You can also call Express Scripts at 1-877-363-1303 and speak to someone.

5. Manage your prescriptions from your phone
When you enroll in home delivery, you can manage your prescriptions on the Express Scripts mobile app. Through the app, you can:
  • Order prescriptions
  • Track order status
  • Order refills
  • Make payments
  • Set reminders to take your medications

You can also log in to your Express Scripts online account to access many of the same features that are on the app.

Do you have other health insurance (OHI) with a prescription plan? If Express Scripts manages the pharmacy benefit for your OHI, you can use home delivery. Express Scripts will automatically coordinate your benefits.
