Deployed Overseas? Get MyCare Overseas App to Help With Your Health Care

By TRICARE Communications

There can be so many unknowns if you’ve never served away from home. Especially when it comes to health care. Are you wondering how the health care system works where you’re going to? Do you have questions about translation services, emergency care, or network providers? If so, International SOS Government Services, Inc. (International SOS), the TRICARE Overseas Program (TOP) contractor, offers the MyCare Overseas mobile app. The app helps those enrolled in TRICARE Prime OverseasTRICARE Prime Remote Overseas, or TRICARE Select Overseas navigate health care services in a new country.

“If you’re deployed overseas, you’re going to have questions about your health care,” said Michael Griffin, program analyst with the TRICARE Overseas Program Office at the Defense Health Agency. “Our hope is that the MyCare Overseas app makes it easier for you to find the health care information you’re looking for at any time.”

Where can you find the app? The MyCare Overseas app is available to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play app store. Once you download the app, be sure to register an account. You must complete the registration process to start using features of the app right away. You can also access the MyCare Overseas portal from a computer. Once you register, you’ll have access to the same services as the app.

Let’s look at some of the app’s features.

24/7 assistance
No matter what time it is in your new country, you can get help through the MyCare Overseas app. You have 24/7 access to the TOP Regional Call Centers, Global First Call Desk, and Beneficiary Support Center. You can also access a self-service ChatBot for immediate answers to frequently asked questions.

You can also get in touch anytime with your local Near Patient Team if you’re enrolled in TRICARE Prime Overseas or TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas and live in one of the following countries:
  • Bahrain
  • Belgium
  • Germany
  • Greece
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Luxembourg
  • The Netherlands
  • Poland
  • Spain
  • South Korea

Medical translation services
Don’t speak the local language? That’s OK. The MyCare Overseas app gives you access to real-time telephonic language assistance. You can also submit requests for eligible medical records translations using the app. When the translation is ready, the app will notify you and you can download the translated documents from the app.

Access to your TRICARE health plan information and provider search
With MyCare Overseas, you can check your TRICARE health plan enrollment, as well as review TRICARE covered services and access the Beneficiary Secure Claims Portal. You can search network providers in your area with the Healthcare Finder tool. As outlined in the TRICARE Overseas Program Handbook, network providers are certified by TRICARE. These providers have signed a formal agreement with International SOS. They may also provide cashless and claimless medical services to those enrolled in TRICARE Prime Overseas and TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas. This means you won’t have to pay upfront to get services. You also won’t need to file your own claims.

Authorizations and appointment reminders
You can create appointment reminders for yourself, and view provider contact details. The app also helps you keep track of your referrals and issued authorizations. You can use the app to download authorizations from International SOS.

If you think MyCare Overseas can help you, get the app and register today. Visit the TOP website to learn more about your coverage overseas and available resources.
