Register for June 24 Webinar on Autism Care Demonstration

FALLS CHURCH, Va. – TRICARE will host a webinar on the Autism Care Demonstration (ACD) on June 24, from 1 to 2 p.m. ET. The webinar is for parents and families to learn about key policy changes to the ACD.

“We encourage parents and caregivers of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder who are enrolled or want to enroll in TRICARE’s Autism Care Demonstration to join this webinar,” said Dr. Krystyna Bienia, clinical psychologist and ACD clinical lead with the Defense Health Agency (DHA). “This webinar will give you a chance to learn more about the ACD and the new program improvements that target clinically appropriate care for beneficiaries to reach their maximum potential.”

In March of this year, the DHA published policy changes to the ACD. They include:

Improving the clinical outcomes for participating beneficiaries
Expanding coverage of eligible services, including groups
Providing more parent and family support services
Connecting families with both clinical and non-clinical services
Improving outcomes collection and reporting
Expanding parental involvement

A gradual rollout of changes began in May. The plan is for all changes to be in effect by Jan. 1, 2022. You can read more about the changes in this TRICARE article.

“The focus of these changes is to ensure that families participating in the ACD have access to all available options, both clinical and non-clinical, and are able to connect their child to the right services at the right time,” said Dr. Amy Serda, a behavioral health nurse consultant with the DHA. “We want to provide a program that meets the individual needs of each family.”
