FALLS CHURCH, Va. –
The Defense Health Agency (DHA) strives to provide safe and high-quality care at all military hospitals and clinic across the globe. Recently, there was a concern over the ability to continue providing full-spectrum labor and delivery care at
U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa due to staffing constraints brought about by the summer permanent change of station cycle and unanticipated early departure of civilian staff. Through a collaborative effort on the part of DHA and the medical departments of all military services, Okinawa will continue to provide full labor and delivery services for all beneficiaries within the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.
The hospital is NOT on divert and there is no change in current capability. Additional military, civilian, and contracted staffing is being actively worked to fill the gaps caused by personnel moves and to ensure the same level of care is readily available in support of our Service members and families.
