Defense Health Agency patients and families are our highest priority

By Defense Health Agency

The Defense Health Agency continues to fully cooperate with the ongoing criminal investigation being conducted by the Army Criminal Investigative Division regarding a military medical provider working at the Carl R. Darnall Army Women’s Health Center. Our first concern is for the patients and families affected by this situation. We know this news has created concerns and questions from our patients and our military community. Our patients and their families remain our highest priority as we respond to this situation.

We take allegations of inappropriate conduct with the utmost seriousness. The provider has been removed from all patient care activities while the investigation is ongoing. We have notified patients who received care from this provider at Darnall and another location where the individual delivered care and let them know of the investigation as well as the resources available to them if they require additional support. We have launched a comprehensive internal review staffed by clinical experts to ensure accountability, review systemic safeguards, and rebuild the confidence of our community in the hospital. In addition, we are also reviewing clinical protocols, supervision mechanisms, and reporting and complaint procedures across the entire enterprise to ensure that our hospitals remain a safe and secure environment for our beneficiaries and personnel.

Our MTF Patient Experience staff are available to support patients who have been affected by this situation. Behavioral health counseling is available for any patient or staff who may need additional care and support. The DHA remains committed to supporting our staff and our patients and continuing to provide world-class care throughout our enterprise.

If you have any questions or concerns, need medical care, or any other support, please reach out to the customer service team at your local MTF. The individual MTF customer service team information can be found on each MTF website under patient resources.

While we cannot provide specific information about the investigation, patients may contact U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division through the criminal investigation screening questionnaire at https://forms.osi.apps.mil/r/vgcfuj3pD8.
